Iron Oak is a furniture and custom fabrication team with a passion for the details. Each piece by Iron Oak is thoughtfully crafted using timeless building methods and exceptional materials. Through a custom design process that carefully considers every element of a project, the Iron Oak team prides themselves on the ability to collaborate with designers and customers to bring an idea to life. Every piece built by IronOak is meant to compliment the natural beauty of the wood and is crafted to last a lifetime with hand-welded metals and the highest grade finishes.

Karl

FOUNDER

Karl grew up in Richmond, VA. His inspiration to build came from his father, a mechanical engineer and from his woodshop teacher at Godwin High School - William Vick .  In high school he also competed in Skills VICA Nationals for 3D animation and visualization, placing 14th as a Junior and 1st as a Senior. This provided his starting skillset for drawing 3D CAD files for fabrication.

While attending Virginia Commonwealth University for a Business MGMT degree in Entrepreneurship , he began working under a master carpenter which inspired him to pursue working for himself.

In 2010 he began sharing a woodshop and within a few years set out to form Iron Oak.
